Weather Fact of the Day
« on: March 17, 2006, 04:27:50 PM »
From the NWS (http://www.srh.noaa.gov/ohx/weatherfacts.php):

Quote
On March 17, 1892...
Nashville records its greatest one-day snowfall ever, measuring 17". The snow starts after midnight, and continues until noon. Members of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in America cancel their annual parade. No street cars are running. Morning trains are delayed. And the "arteries of trade" are clogged. Suburban workers have to walk to town. Mailmen don't leave the post office on their rounds until 10:00 a.m. A freight train from Chattanooga slides off the track at the Winton community, near Murfreesboro, and a passenger train from Memphis due at 7:00 a.m. doesn't arrives until 2:00 p.m. Riddleton, a few miles northwest of Carthage, receives 18.7" in what is believed to be the greatest single-day snowfall in Middle Tennessee's history.

Can you imagine?

Very cool. But I've had a taste of springtime in the last week and want winter to stay as far away as possible until next year :)
Views expressed are my personal views and opinions and should not take the place of official forecasts and warnings issued by the NWS and your local media.

:D

Agreed.  Once it hits 80 degrees (like it did last weekend), the cold weather is hard to take, especially when everything starts blooming, etc.

Yeah, as much as I love snow....I don't like it when I see flowers blooming and hear the bird songs in the morning...PLUS we've all been nursing some wicked, nasty, achy, sniffly, yucky, sneezy, stuff since the weather cooled down again... :x

Last weekend was nice....Give me about 6 months of lows in the 50's and highs in the upper 70's to low 80's..I don't tolerate the REALLY hot and humid weather very well anymore. :(
