Thoughts on Mon morning system?
« on: February 19, 2006, 07:27:24 AM »
The NWS Nashville seems to be playing this system up a little more than surrounding offices.  Is this because the little disturbance will pass right over us or what?  Forcast for most of mid TN is calling for likely pops and up to an inch of snow/sleet depending on location.  Mem, Hun, and Lou not hitting it near as hard.  Thoughts?

My thoughta re that I agree with you but I feel if they were confident they would have issued some advisories...whoever did the AFD appeared to be in a hurry.  All models, except for one, do show light QPF for us (I looked at 4...one shows nothing, one shows .01 or less, and two show somewhere between .1-.25)

All surrounding stations are playing it down...huntsville with 30/40 (tonight/Monday) pops...Bowling Green with 30/20 pops...Memphis with 30/30 in their metro area; however, the chances increase to 50/50 once you cross the border into MS...Dyersburg carries 30/30, all snow.

Interestingly enough, one models splits moisture and takes it to Nashville northward and Birmingham southward...not sure of the reason for that, but that's what it does.

Tonight will tell more...as you can see though, not very many people hyped up over it.

Also...weather.compgives us 30/40 pops with less than one inch accum.  and accuweather...WHOA  gives us likley with 1-2" accumalation.

Go figure...

I thin the NWS BNA sees this putting out a little more than anyone else...which is probably the reason for the forecast and not an advisory.  A little safety while, at the same time, sticking thier necks out...of course, we all know that very few people watch the news on a Sunday morning...if one of the local media mets pushed this, not very many people would know about it come tonight if the forecasts chanegd by then  :)
