1981-1982?

I was about to turn 8 for the Jan 82 event, but I don't remember that one.  I remember 85 well because I kept a snow journal that year.  See y'all are not the only weather dorks out there.  We were living in West Nashville in the hills southwest of Brookmeade school.  It snowed three weeks in a row.  Everytime it would start to clear up and we would head back to school only for it to crank back up again.  Seems one of the storms we had been out nearly a week then on the day we went back to school we got sent home early for another storm.  We ended up missing nearly three weeks total and went back to school with snow all over the roads because we had already missed so much.

It's amazing how long the snow will hang around when the ground is good and frozen when the precip hits.  I think it was 2000 or 2001 when we got about 3" on New Year's Day.  As a teacher I remember thinking it was a waste of a good snow since it fell on the holiday.:D  That snow hung around for a week or more and we got 3 or 4 snowdays out of it.  The temp got back up above freezing a couple of days later, but the stuff just wouldn't melt on all the backroads in the hollers down here.
