At this point in time, it's too early to say whether we'll have just a cold rain, some ice, some sleet, wet snowflakes...you get the picture! Since this is the blog and not our "official forecast"...I don't mind telling you that my initial guess leans toward the rain and possible ice scenario. You won't hear us say that over the air just yet, but that's what little ol' Justin is thinking. I believe the models will struggle to accurately depict the cold air in the low-levels, so watching the forecast soundings will be clutch over the next few days. For those who like to follow the models on their own: this isn't the type of situation where a simple glance at the 540 thickness line or the 850mb 0 degree line will guarantee your precip type.
Hey Weatherdude I was thinking of starting a forum for Nashville also but now that you have there is no need . I was going to make a weather website tho with a forum and if I can remember what its called I will give you a name of a free weather portal if you decided to make a site with it also . Its free
If we keep waiting on tomorrow's models that increases accuracy, but part of the fun of being an amateur is coming up with your own ideas, forecasts, and discussing the thinking behind it.
The model that had the BEST handle on last weekend's storm was the NASA model. They only have 48 hours out, but here is Fri morning behind the front forecast sounding for Nashville:Notice the very shallow cold air being overrun with much warmer air? Watch this model for the soundings tomorrow and you'll get a good idea what will happen. After all, we're just throwing out our discussion opinions right?
