This looks like as good a place as any to put this map showing average temps forecast for this winter:

Okay....

Only if I'm reading them right, but this doesn't seem to bode well for winter weather fans...

The only thing I read in the maps is drier than average and slightly cooler than average (although I tend to disagree with that forecast). The thing you have to remember is these are averages. The jet buckles at times during the winter into a higher amplitude pattern. We could see cold snaps periodically this winter (as most winters) and have the precip to back it up by an open GoM. That's an acute event that will stand out among the "averages".

So there's still hope for you snowballs?bacon bits?slushpuppies?

No...NOT SNOWBIRD..OH you that are so wise in reading maps, models, and skew-T diagrams...

SNOWBIRDS  are Northerners who go to the warmer climate of Florida in Mid-Late November and NEST and ROOST there until after EASTER.
Now THEM be Snowbirds....they fly away from da snow!!!!

Well...then I shall REMAIN hopeful....keep my Kroger drill intact...

Just in case.

Hmmmmmmmm.....it all sounds yummy!!!

I don't know if I want to be described as a food item though...In tough times, I may resort to chewing on my hand in confusion or something...

Hmmmmmm....Perhaps I should ponder this whilst I sit in the dreaded school line!!

*also hoping the Swiss Colony shipment (number 1) comes in today too*

YUMMERS!!!

Hey you snowlovers!  Look what I found from another site:

This is an amateur forecast, but he puts a lot of thought in his work and has agreement on most of it by several mets and pro forecasters. Here's a linky to his full write up: http://www.easternuswx.com/bb/index.php?showtopic=108966
