It could stay like this and I'd be fine.  But no.  Back to the 90s this week.  Blah. :(

Yep, a brief cool down and right back to above normal temps for extended.  I dont mean to be rude but Summer 2010 you have overstayed your welcome, you can leave now.

Front is swinging through the Nashville area I speak. Dew points range from upper 50s in Joelton to 70s in Brentwood.

Granted its well past truncation, but the 12z gfs brings down a 1026 mb high into the plains by the 23rd of september. Maybe I've just forgotten what the cold looks like, but that seems pretty extreme for the midsouth to have lows in the low 40s 3 week of sept.

Hopefully its catching onto something. I noticed that this week we're certainly busting on the low side of early week forecasts. High of 80 tomorrow in Nashville.

Ugh, I hope we don't get a warm winter.  But my grandmother used to say "The hotter the summer, the colder the winter."  I hope she was right.

There's actually some scientific basis for this (see La Nina threads) but last summer was cool and the winter was cold, so it doesn't always hold.

i wouldnt look for a cold winter this season.  i think the temps will average well above norms this winter overall. we could be look at a record breaking nina. plus already seeing indications that the polar vortex isnt going to corporate with us this winter either.

What do you guys think of the precipitation possibility this weekend?  Looks like it might break our dry spell.

i wouldnt hold my breakth on that too much either. not trying to be negative. but low level moisture looks very light at best. its going to take a big time front to break the ridge down. then that will lead to our first big severe fall weather event. when ever that happens.

I hear that cold front Friday, could cause severe wx for parts of the Plains States into the Western Great Lakes area.  Probably not so much in this area though, but we can at least hope for some cooldown, I never thought that upper 70's/low 80's for high's was too much to ask for in the Fall.

What does Winter 11-12 hold??
The NAO,PNA,PDO,MJO, etc.. and Storm Track will decide.

I was really hoping for some low 80's temps this weekend but it doesn't look very promising in that regard.  No rain would be very awesome, though.

Well, considering the ceremony to my wedding is going to be outside, no rain would be most excellent.  Same for the low 80's temps.   ::hot::

Look at the GFS around Oct. 2-4. Those crashing 850mb temps over the Southeast are pure and unadulterated beauty.  ::yum::
