Everyone knows that the first frost is three months from when katydids start their nightly serenade. I heard my first one on July 2 this year, which is about two weeks earlier than normal up here. Others said they were hearing them in late June, which I don't doubt. So take heart on these 95 degree days. If our grandmothers are correct, cold air is going to be a little early this fall.
