This is still tagged experimental, but I've had it for over a year and it works fairly well.

Is this a public product?

Quote
iNWS is intended for members of community emergency planning and response management (i.e. emergency managers, law enforcement managers, fire and emergency response managers, transportation and safety managers, public officials), Skywarn Net Control operators, government partners of NWS offices, and members of the electronic media. Not sure I fit into any of these categories.

I've emailed them.  We'll see.  I've had my account for over a year, and I wasn't locked out from tryingto get it; nor was I ever denied an account.  The info has been on the board for that log as well.

I just submitted my request.  For organization, I put in Davidson Co. ARES since I am a member.  That shouldn't make a difference, but it sure can't hurt.

Ok - thanks. I only asked because as I was looking through the site and seeing that it was still in "experimental beta" and upon trying to register, I saw that above qualifier.

I may try to register anyway to see where it goes.

Hmm. If they would register somebody not with ems this would be quite useful. I could take the weather channel app off my droid.

I bet they don't even look over the registering people's forms, they just click 'Ok' and are done with it. Wouldn't make much sense to worry too much about registering people's occupations on just weather alerts, UNLESS they have capacity issues.

There must have been capacity issues in the past, since they temporarily suspended sms service. Didn't care about it, since I only use the email alerts.
