ZR = freezing rain

Expanding on that thought, Freezing Rain is a very dangerous phenomena. So dangerous that it is worse than Snow. Its what causes Icestorms. Go back and see the Kentucky Ice Storm of 09, and you'll see Freezing Rain at its worst.

We got a dusting in Lafayette earlier this morning but that was it, sun has came out this afternoon and warmed temps. up into the low 40's. Pretty nice day after having moderate snow falling this morning.

The RUC did a good job with this system and showed the moisture getting up this far.

I am not sure exactly how much QPF we received, but I imagine it was more then what any model was predicting...

The higher up you were the more measurable precip you got.

Downtown maybe got .10 inches. Brentwood got probably .3-.4

I noticed something crazy as I was driving into work, and when I left for lunch. Somewhere between brentwood and harding place was the line where stuff was evaporating. The same band that was creating half mile visibilities was spitting snowflakes just 5 miles away. And when I left at 11 for lunch, I hit that same spot and the snow just stopped. Weird.

I must say this, and then I'll put this baby to bed: If we had the cold that we had back in Early January for this event, then my area would EASILY have recieved over 8 inches.. It snowed hard here from 6:30 this morning till 1:30 this afternoon, with light snow from 1:30 to about 3:30. Some parts where it was colder got a foot of it, even more at higher peaks in the mountains. I reached 2 inches before it quickly melted with the temps and warm ground.

BUT.. Severe Weather, come on IN!!!! 8) ::rain:: ::drowning::

We ended up getting around 1.5-2" up here.  Most of that fell during a pretty heavy stretch of snow in the morning.  None too shabby, methinks.

I'm ready for spring, though.  Bring on the storms.   ::guitar::

The mountains are GORGEOUS today! Still completely covered in several inches of perfect white, wet snow! I wish I had a camera, it will probably be mostly melted in a few hours.

50 inches...wow. That's incredible that can be just down the road and not a thing is on the ground here. lol. I'd love to drive up there if I had the cash for gas.  ::snowman::

Same here. Not just the cash, but the fact that the roads are closed so you can't get up there anyways, even if you did have a million dollars (well, ok; less than a million, but you get the picture)
