it's real studpid, we're only over 2 days for the 5 snow days we have.

i don't remember doing this in 2003 when we had like 10 snow days

Not a bad deal, I think.  I would rather have slightly longer days than have to go in for extra makeup days.

I think by law they have to make up that missed time somehow.

Well, my school started out with making our county go 2 extra days at the end of the year to make up for the snow days, but they asked the State Education Board to grant their request to make up for the 2 sick days (used originally as Snow Days). Thus, we have to make up, as it stands now, NO days in my county.

Rutherford County already goes extra each day to "build in" 10 days each year for "disaster/snow/flood" days.  We've still got 4 to miss...and when I say "we", I mean.....my boys.    ;D

We have 12 built in and are now down to -2 snow days.

They have yet to tell us how they plan on making it up, rumor has it that we will go at the end of the year and go on Saturday to get our report cards and leave at 10 am.

But they took away our senior trip this year and so in return, we (the seniors) may get out a week earlier than everyone else. That is what we have heard, but everything is hush with our new Director of Schools. lol

LOL I was just kidding. To answer your La Nina/ El Nino question, NO it cannot happen. Both occur in the same Ocean (Pacific Ocean), and both have different water temps, causing different things to happen. One has warm water temps, while another has cold water temps, affecting our area in different ways.

And unless your Director asks the state to make it count as separate than a Snow Day, then yes, it does count as a Snow Day
