Guys, are those returns going to form up better, or will there be a dry slot in them for a while??? And will they hold up until they get to East TN???

No one knows for sure Tom. The upsloping winds on the plateau and the mountains will increase totals for some, but these backside vort events are unpredictable. You never know where're good forcing is gonna set up.

Where's nashvillewx? He's great with forecasting these events.

That's good to know since the radar returns aren't that impressive. Lisa Spenser showed a map that put a dusting of snow north of I-40 until you get to the Rim where 1/2"-1" is possible and then the Plateau could see upwards of 2".

If that looks likely, look for Winter Weather Advisories to come up for, maybe the Rim, but definitely the Plateau.

The returns don't have to be super impressive. SUPER cold air aloft coming in should squeeze out every left over bit of moisture in the atmosphere with the lift provided by the vort moving through.

That is true, this vort will pump all the remaining moisture out no matter what it takes.

Looks like Bowling Green is getting slapped in the chops with some snow at the moment. And it looks like the radar returns are strengthening and increasing in coverage.

I'm wondering about the roads in the morning.  Our roads here (wilson) are mostly dry but there are still a few little puddles here and there.  Also, if we get anymore tonight, seems like it would freeze.

Our roads are still slushy and covered off the main roads and I am sure they will be treacherous when they freeze over tonight.

Snow still coming down good in Dickson Beth?
Yes, I just peeked out and its still snowing. The wind is whipping it around pretty good too. My drive way has a little dusting again and it was clear earlier after a little shoveling and a little sun. ::snowman::

I know that wind I had to go knock ice off of my weather station and had snow pelting me in the face with a wind chill of 7F...not the greatest feeling. haha I would rather be hit by Albert Haynesworth then go through that again.  :o
