Rain/snow mix with a temp. of 32.8F...my cue to go to bed. haha

I am down to 32.2 and slowly dropping. the ULL low could put down 1/2 to 1 inch. Rush hour is gonna be messy with all of the slush freezing with the possibility of another inch later on.

Shelby County is already closed tomorrow. Too bad Fedex doesnt close. I'll prob wait a little before driving in late morning.

Wilson County has said they are considering the situation and will make a call in the morning...

I'm betting Wilson goes.  Hope not but probably.

Channel 4 had someone on location there.  I noticed at the beginning of the newscast that it was still snowing with big flakes.  But, later they went back to him, and I couldn't see the flakes, and he remarked that it was coming down hard but in small grains.  I think that was a sleet mix.

So, I think it is changing over a bit even there.

Honestly, if we're losing Clarksville, then Nashville doesn't have a prayer to changeover until the cold air arrives.

RUC did a great job with this system so far.  At least for BNA, dont know about other locales.

Just went to the store. Main roads are a lot better now. Parking lots and my complex has about 1 1/2" of slush. If it holds up and morning arrives with temperatures dipping back below freezing a the possibility of a 1" or so of snow could make things quiet messy. Overall things should continue to improve till morning, then they will most likely go down hill again.

A few thoughts on "melting snow" I wanted to share:

Most of us got a quick 1-2" of snow tonight...

We think, it will be 33-35 overnight so it will all melt, but will it?
My experiences are that a bright sunny day with a temp of 30 can help melt some snow; however, when the benefits of the sunshine have given way to nighttime, a 34 or 35 degree temp will not immeidately melt 1-2'' of snow...now, a good heavy rain could wash a lot of it away

My prediciton is that if the rain stays light, or even stops for a time, a consistent 33 or 34 degree temp is probably not going to melt all the snow (some, maybe...but not all)....if you're a snowlover because watching the snow fall is an amazing beauty that God has given us, then the changeover to rain was proabbly disappointing; however, if you're a snowlover simply because you want out of school, all hope may not be dead.  If you are in an area (Centerville, Columbia, Franklin, Smyrna, Mout Juliet, Lebanon, Ashland City, Outlying Nashville areas) that got 1-3" of snow tonight, it's not out of the realm of possibility that you'll be out of school...in less traveled areas, that snow may not melt unless a good heave rain washes it away.

Someone was asking about Clarksville and if they will change over.  Here is latest RUC for Clarksville when the next band of precip moves in.  Looks close to freezing rain to me.  But definitely not snow.

depends on what you want, but Ive got the Peet Bros. Ultimeter 2100. They have cheaper models and more expensive models. But Im pleased. Curt has a Davis. Shop around. Youll find something to meet your needs.
