The wind while not extremely strong has me concerned.

That 12:05 a.m. Storm Spotter Report is Mine that I reported to the N.W.S.
Kind cool to see all of the different snow totals from around the area.  ::flag::

Although I like snow, and I love to see a mid-south snow event, this is music to my ears:

Bummer... I'll miss the familiar urgency of the all caps regardless of the real urgency.
A TRANQUIL WEATHER PATTERN BRINGING FAIR SKIES WILL DOMINATE THE REGION.

Would this ice event be considered the worst since 94? Earlier I read somewhere that this event even appeared worse than the December 2000 event.

No where near as bad, but it is the worst I have seen since then personally.

I am grilling some steaks out tonight and its a little surreal with the backdrop being a sheet of ice.  One thing I do love about winter storms is how quiet it is at night with everyone not out and about.

It is very quiet out here as well. One has to wonder if any additional winter events would be in the form of ice.

Another thing which does not mean a lot is this winter kind of reminds me of the winter of 94. We started out that year with very cold conditions and some small events in January.

Considering El Nino, it would be very possible.  I am hoping for a a simple cold core low to roll through and drop some snow though.  While those typically aren't block busters, they are reliable snow producers and seem to be less dramatic.  Since I am among friends here, I will admit to a certain emotional attachment to these systems and lets downs can drive me nuts.  I am done with the smoking hot woman that likes to play games (gulf low with northern stream phasing etc) and ready to settle down with the average looking normal woman that can cook (northern stream shortwave or cold core low).

Yes I just compared weather to women.  I am that much of a nerd.  ;)

From MEG for almost the entire CWA:

Quote
...FREEZING FOG ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM CST SUNDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MEMPHIS HAS ISSUED A FREEZING FOG
ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM CST SUNDAY.

* AREAS OF FREEZING FOG WILL REDUCE VISIBILITIES TO LESS THAN ONE
  MILE.

* AREAS OF FREEZING FOG WILL CONTINUE TO DEVELOP EARLY TONIGHT AND
SHOULD DISSIPATE BY MID MORNING SUNDAY.

* ICY PATCHES MAY DEVELOP ON UNTREATED ROADS...ESPECIALLY ON BRIDGES
  AND OVERPASSES MAKING TRAVEL HAZARDOUS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FREEZING FOG ADVISORY MEANS FROST WILL FORM ON SURFACES FROM
THE FREEZING FOG AND WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES.  ALSO...
VISIBILITIES WILL BE REDUCED. IF DRIVING...SLOW DOWN...USE YOUR
HEADLIGHTS...AND LEAVE PLENTY OF DISTANCE AHEAD OF YOU. ALSO...BE
ALERT FOR FROST ON BRIDGE DECKS CAUSING SLIPPERY ROADS.

I like that comparison... never thought about it like that. The big systems like we had this week are way too stressful for me.

I am sure you saw the thread, but Shane over at TW (who is a freaking awesome long range forecaster IMO) seems to think the threat of more ice is there with a negative NAO and AO similar to earlier in January.  The difference this time being the southern stream may show up to the party.

Years ago (when he was free  ::whistling:: ) when I used to read Bastardi, it seems he always had similar thought too, in regard to the nao. I hear the occasional mention of JB on this board, but I wonder what the general consensus is of him around here.  I take it he's not very well liked around these parts?
