Sounds like a main feed somewhere is having some sort of an issue similar to earlier.  As long as it says as a flicker.

I agree...  MLGW outages continue to go up in SE Shelby Co... 270 outages effecting 6600 customers now.  Is it just me or is the precip NW of Little Rock moving extremely slow? Looks to be at least 1am before it makes to the Memphis area.

edit: now effecting 9000 custormers.  Collierville looks to be hard hit right now.

MLGW said earlier Today the flickering is when winds are swaying the high-voltage transmission tower lines...not an indication of a forthcoming outage

Yeah painfully slow.  If it doesn't break up first.  That might be a good thing though.

Me Three!  I just stepped outside and was wondering about the wind also.  We get the occasional gust to probably 20 MPH that makes the trees creak, but other than that its fairly calm here.  Curt, I think all the sleet earlier has saved us thus far.

Oh no doubt sleet helped. I saw pics from the cam at Baptist Desoto and cannot believe the variety in the metro today. For me, today was a repeat of December 22, 04.

I just spoke to a realtive in Rossville who lost power. Flickering or not, its taking a bit of a toll, nowhere near Feb 94 though. BUT if you lose power it sucks, 94 style or not.

I have no echo returns above me but I still have the drizzle "spray" thing going on.  Its not much but you can believe every bit of it is freezing to the trees.

The individual outage number (not customers) from MLGW has almost tripled in the last hour...peak numbers are down but more areas of the county are being affected...

Just looked out and it is as bad as ever in the streetlights, kinda eerie blowing around. The streets out here are just horrendous and have a glaze on top of sleet and snow that you can see glisten a bit. I wonder if this stuff is able to evade nexrad somewhat, cause Kevin, I sure thought the same thing.

Wow... definitely big jumps in the last few minutes.  You can look at that map and really see which areas got sleet vs. freezing rain this afternoon.  Looks like a line from Lakeland to downtown was the dividing line.

County or city? I assume either and mosty south where ZR was predominant today.

It is still drizzling here despite no NEXRAD returns.  I put a dry plate outside for 5 minutes to try and see how much liquid is actually coming down and was surprised how much accumulated in 5 minutes time considering how fine and light it is.  Is this the "super cooled droplet" style ZR I have heard about?
