Ok in my end of Macon County, I measured 5 inches on my car... however my car was not out in it the entire time. I measured 8 inches in my front yard. At my uncle's house, I stepped into a snow drift that was to my knee and I wasn't at the bottom of it yet. The roads here are really slick. Heard of alot of churches canceling tomorrow.
Whiteout conditions around 4:00PM in Dayton, TN. Heavy Snow
I wouldn't call that whiteout conditions. Looks like you have 1/4 mile visibility there. If it were a true whiteout, you wouldn't see the trees and that hill up ahead. It would be difficult to see more than a few feet ahead of you. That looks like the rates I was seeing at most, and I would call it moderate snow, IMO.
I am not sure what qualifies as whiteout conditions officially.
Hey Extremewxlover, I'm still kinda new around here, but here was a statement made by OHX earlier this AM. This may help answer your question as to why temps. got warmer today than previously thought.
Bummer... I'll miss the familiar urgency of the all caps regardless of the real urgency.A TRANQUIL WEATHER PATTERN BRINGING FAIR SKIES WILL DOMINATE THE REGION.
