Poll: Your snow prediction for Thursday
« on: January 05, 2010, 09:43:29 PM »
I thought this might be fun for everyone... Considering the model roulette, and differing opinions amongst forum members...

For the 24 hours starting at 1/7/10 at 00:53 hours, how much snow will officially fall at Nashville International Airport?

My thoughts about this system... I predict that there will be a large general area of light accumulations of dusting to 2".  But, within that area, it won't surprise me if a heavier band or two sets up dropping anomalously heavier accumulations over whoever happens to be lucky enough to be under it.

1-3" is actually my call.

1" south towards TN/AL border, 3" towards the TN/KY border.

I am going to say 2-4 inches. Pushing it, but maybe I could find a 4 inch snow drift! ::snowman::

My MRX and local stations are calling for 1-3 inches of fluffy snow. I don't know why they aren't calling for drifts in my area, but a general safe 1-2 inches is my vote.

I am going with 3.5 inches here in my neck of the woods in the Mammoth Cave Ky area. I believe this system will outperform the models.

I'm voting for 3" at the airport.  Less than one inch where I live, since snow is afraid of me.  ::shrug::

Im going 1-2" but if the models continue to trend like the NAM has, i might change it. ::fingerscrossed::
AND A LOT CAN CHANGE BETWEEN NOW AND THEN.

The little blue splotches showing up in this WRF map in SW TN... that's the kind of thing I was thinking about when I mentioned the "anomalously heavier accumulations" this thing could drop over an isolated lucky few.

But, you can't take what this short-range model map shows literally as far as exactly where it happens... just that it may happen somewhere in the area.  We shall see.
