Guess it's gonna be the same as last winter, with lots of cold Arctic air that will go to waste with no moisture to accompany it.   >:(

But, not to worry ... the moisture will roll back in just as the cold air is retreating.   ::bangingheadintowall::

Guess we're just snakebit here in middle TN.  We just can't win.  ::coffee::

12z GFS looking really sad.  Nothing promising even out into voodoo land.  BORING !   ::sleeping::

I almost want to think that's a good thing. If there was a monster storm out at 200+ hours, I wouldn't believe it anyways. At least at this rate maybe the GFS being wrong might turn into a good thing. Sometimes the models don't pick up on big ones until late in the game. I have to think (hope might be a better word) that with this ocean of arctic air out there that maybe some ULL will sneak up and surprise us. I think over the next two weeks anything from the gulf will be too suppressed to matter. But I hope I'm wrong. At this point - I'd take two flakes over what we've been getting. ::fingerscrossed::

A sleet storm here just west of Oneida tonight. A rain/sleet mix (but mostly sleet) has been falling for a couple of hours. Ground is white but it isn't accumulating on the road.

Edit: Ironically, MRX had a rain/sleet mix in the forecast for tonight while just across the river gorge in Fentress County, OHX had nothing but rain in the forecast tonight. In the late evening forecast update (issued after the onset of precipitation), MRX removed the sleet mention and left only rain in the forecast, while OHX changed to a wintry mix and issued a SPS highlighting slick roads along the Plateau in Putnam, Fentress and Cumberland counties due to a rain-snow-sleet mix that has been falling along the western edge of the Plateau.

Just cold, blustery, and rainy here in Nashville tonight.

We're well above freezing though.  Congrats to those of you getting a little winter weather tonight.

Sleet was falling in valley earlier...at a mod rate. Now all rain in valley, but moderate sleet currently falling in the higher elevations of east Tennessee. Travel problems in the morning look highly possible... ::cold::

They were at 34F, our temps. will rise overnight as warmer air moves in. So if any roadways get bad, by morning they should be ok for the most part.
