NWS has reintroduced a 30% chance of rain/snow tomorrow.Lets hope for the white stuff to at least fly in the air tomorrow.

The wind has really ramped up here in the past hour or so. Temps have dropped a bit also from a high of almost 62 degrees.

I noticed that the NWS has put in a 30% chance of snow/flurries for us here in the morning and then again a small chance Sunday night. Both of those chances are new this afternoon.

Even some flurries would be nice..

Hope you all are safe in your travels!

I noticed they have changed the forecast again so who knows we might get a little snow. At least its a step in the right direction.

question kevin, just wondering why the nws hasnt warranted a high wind warning yet. they are still staying with just the high wind watch, cause man its blowing prety well now. isnt it met high wind criteria yet?

criteria for a High Wind Warning is 40 mph sustained...or 58 mph wind gusts. Nobody in the area has been close to that...Memphis's highest gust recorded is 39 mph...though I'm sure a few 40+ has occurred in other areas at times. So windy...but just not enough to warrant a warning right now (and in fact...the High Wind Watch has just been canceled).

The large rain shield is likely resulting in a stable layer in the lowest 1000 or 2000 feet off the surface. The really strong winds aloft are hitting that stable layer and are unable to transport any higher winds to the surface because of it...which is why 50-60 mph gusts aren't being reached.

There's a Low that was over Louisiana and is tracking north up the Mississippi River.  Usually they track east along the coast then up the Atlantic coast.  This seems like a really unusual track.  I wonder how unusual it is and what causes it to go north instead of east?

There are some light returns on OHX radar.  I currently have a temperature of 39.  I think I saw some tiny snow grains sprinkled on the windshield.

May have some flurry acitivity this afternoon.  But, I think Nelson Mazda is safe for now.  ::)

Merry Christmas!  ::snowman::
