I doubt that will make a difference. Snow cover that far snow over such a small area that will melt within 48 hours is really a spit in the wind to our weather.

I'm a little leery of the comparisons between this upcoming winter and the winters of the mid to late '70s. We typically don't fare all that well in a moderate Nino. I would feel much more comfortable if the +ENSO would begin to relax, pronto.

Of course, there are lots of factors other than the ENSO phase that could play a role in this winter, so it's going to be interesting to watch. IMO, we have one good memorable snow with multiple bouts of warmer-than-average weather and some cold shots interjected, rather than an open pipeline from the arctics and repeated winter weather threats.

Why do you think this winter overall will be warmer than average? Snowfall can during high end moderate/low end strong event be below normal. This is not because we are warmer than normal it is because this region is pretty dry vs climo. Strong NW flow is dry thus the trend to a cooler than normal winter. In terms just of Nino most winters here do not do good because QPF can lack.

I didn't say the winter would be warmer than average overall.

Yep, I'm at 31.1 with a forcasted low in the mid 30s.  Just the usual southern middle TN clear and calm bust forecast.

A few PWSs are in the upper 20s already in Brentwood. I'm at 32º with heavy frost already. I knew forecasts were going to bust around 4PM this afternoon when I was already down to 42º and skies were clearing faster than forecast. Also watch out for fog tomorrow. Here is a list of PWSs in the Nashville area. Notice the UHI kicking in

I'm down to 36, predicted low of 35. Still no mention of the "s" word down here. In fact my forecast for wednesday is for rain with a low of 41(that has gone up). Looks like Georgia may be in for more flooding according to HPC. They have 5 inches+ across most of the state.

Clay its pretty amazing how many microzones we have here and the range of temps over the area. I would love to see a station off Sneed Rd by my parents.

You sure about that Rob? http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=36.075742215627&lon=-86.79336547851562&site=ohx&smap=1&marine=0&unit=0&lg=en

I'm in Oak Hill for the next week or so. So not quite as cold as West Bellevue. The wide open treeless valley that subdivision is in out there is incredible for radiational cooling.
