I remember some good winters but I was a kid at the time.  10" total winter snowfall would be a good winter now-a-day.  Sucks.

I can't imagine the 20-30 inch winters that Nashville got in the 60s and 70s. 5" seems like the norm now.

I hope that if this late November/Early December cold pattern that may happen happens I hope the Grinch in the Pacific aka PNA/EPO can corporate and make things happen. Or else it could be the Grinch stole the White Christmas and December Snow for a lot of the country.

Other than that I am thinking positive except for that.

What does Winter 11-12 hold??
The NAO,PNA,PDO,MJO, etc.. and Storm Track will decide.

Still out in "voodooland".  Wait until we're within 5 days of an event...if it's still there, then it might be something.  Usually, the models have a hard enough time picking out details even a few days ahead of time.

Depends on what discussion you are in. I would be happy to start a thread that we can discuss the extended range in. As I said earlier I am wanting the medium range right now for changes in the overall pattern. Dec 10th-15th depending on how things tilt and how some overall waves progress. Models have also been showing a strong UUL developing in the plains, and models have been back and forth on its progress. Lots to watch right now that is for sure!

All on board. This ULL is going to give the first winter weather for some select areas. This will be fun to watch!

Not that it will happen cause most likely it wont but I have notice modeling indicating a change to cold weather the week of Thanksgiving. This has been shown pretty much consistently for the past week. So to me def. looks like at the least finally a change from this more zonal flow to what could lead to Eastern troughing to develop.
