Same here and thats not a good thing for us faithful deer hunters. Deer wont have to move 10 yards to feed again this year.

Not if all those trees are in about 4 acre plots along the hillside on your farm along with rows and rows of Biologic providing the ultimate haven for deer ::evillaugh:: Also Diospyros virginiana
is a great tree to have.

I am planting some of my food plots this weekend.  However, I checked the oaks and decided to build an extra blind right in the middle of them.  Can't figure a good way to get a regular treestand in there.

Around here in Hopkinsville in the town itself the average freeze is October 25th.  But even last year we had some areas had frost and even fall below 32 in the outlying areas in early October while the cities stayed about 38 and above.  So the UHI is big not only in Nashville but in pretty much any town over 6,000 has some UHI effect to it the smaller the town the smaller the effect.

What does Winter 11-12 hold??
The NAO,PNA,PDO,MJO, etc.. and Storm Track will decide.

Very true. Even Nashville's suburbs have a small UHI at their center. Anywhere you have large amounts of parking lots and roof tops the climate can be affected.

LOLWUT?!  Seriously?  Let's hope for a stronger version of that later in the winter!
Don't knock the weather. If it didn't change once in a while, nine out of ten people couldn't start a conversation.

I really like the 77-78 winter being thrown around right now. It is ranked as the 7th snowiest winter
here with 25" of snow.

I was born in Jan. 1978.  Frigid winter looking back on temps and such.  Any snow lover would love to have a repeat of that winter.

the winter of 76-77 was even colder with more snow, espcially jan. feb 77. thats was the year it snowed every wensday. i think i missed the whole month of school in january that year. very cold too. a friend drove his volkswagon across a pretty good size pond. i was in the 6th grade that year, i remember that winter real well. love to see that kind of winter again.
